Christmas Trees and a Christmas Mouse Adventure

I found a Christmas Tree and brought it home...

Since Mike is in England...it is my job to make Christmas happen here at home. I found this tree at a lot down the street from where I work.

I carried this one up the stairs myself, but I think I am going to solicit some help getting it inside.

The next day I went shopping with my brother and Terri for her tree...

We looked at a lot of trees....

This one is good, but not quite perfect.

Still looking.

These just aren't tall enough.

Come on Terri, whats wrong with this one?

Dave, the ever-helpful.

She eventually found a beautiful tree.

When we got back to my house Dave helped out with the mouse issue.....

We have been seeing little brown mice scurrying around. They haven't been noticeably in anything like food, or closets.....but, if you see them, they are lingering in the house somewhere. Dave made it his mission to get these little creatures out of the house. I had tried some of the simple, humane traps, but so far hadn't caught any. He convinced me we needed to try something a little more.....serious.

We placed the traps in various places around the house.

Later that day I was looking for an extension cord......I found where they had been living........ in a drawer, in the Kitty's room. It was sooooo gross. I'll spare you the pictures of that mess. Nothing ruined in the drawer....but apparently they had been in the closet looking for nest material. My vintage, 1940's sable coat must have made a luxurious nest.

The next morning I found two dead mice. Since then I haven't seen any.

Oh, by the way....don't ask about the cat...she was completely uninterested.

Back to more pleasant, Christmas-y things.

Ta Da.....beautifully in place.

Now the decorating.

At work we have an “Adopt a Family” program. Our department adopted a family that is “in need” and we make Christmas happen for them. I was in charge of putting together stockings for Donna, Steven and Paul (a single mom with a 15yr old and a 10yr old).

I had a lot of fun doing this. The department collected over $1000 to spend on this family. They are getting clothes, gift cards, food cards, Gameboys and a Playstation with games.

We drop off the gifts on Friday, the 17th. I can't wait.
