A weekend in Yosemite......
Yosemite - October 4 - 6, 2002
Still searching for that perfect wedding site we took a weekend to explore the possibilities in Yosemite. We stayed at Yosemite West (the south end) and drove to the Wawona for dinner the first night. We are considering the Wawona as a possible site; we like the old style hotel and quiet charm. The food at the restaurant was great....perfect possibility for a wedding feast.
Satuday we drove into the valley to do some hiking.....we got a bit of a late start due to a slight mishap.....Mike accidentally locked the keys in the car. Wait, not just in the car (we could get into the car), he locked them in the trunk. Fortunately we were parked very close to Yosemite Village and they have their own AAA contingent. We got a tow truck to take us back and they seemed extremely unsure about opening a trunk. However, a very talented lock-picker, our assistant was able to get it open and we were "saved" and we were able to begin our hike.
We began by checking out the Yosemite Chapel. It is generally in high demand, but since we most likely won't be wanting if for a weekend, maybe it would be available.
Next we hiked up to Vernal Falls....well Mike walked to the top; I chose not to climb the stairs at the end due to some achey knees.
Sunday we went to the Mariposa Grove were the largest giant redwoods in the world reside (or grow). It was pretty amazing. The pictures do not do them justice.
He almost got it..... Just a'waitin' for the tow truck
